How to limit campaigns, appointment reminders, or appointment scheduling on holidays and weekends

In Steer you can prevent campaigns / appointment reminder sending or new appointments on weekends (or any other desired day of the week or holiday). You can also set limits on the number of campaigns sent to a customer in a set period.

Create holidays to prevent Campaign sending, Appointment Reminder sending, or Appointment scheduling

  1. Go to  Settings, by clicking the Settings toggle in the left navigation.
  2.  Go to Holiday Settings. Holidays is the third option under Communication in Settings. You can control holidays for campaign sending and appointment scheduling. 
  3. Here you can change what prevent which customers from scheduling an appointment, Steer from sending campaigns, or Steer from sending appointment reminders for based on the date. 
    1. If a holiday is toggled OFF (gray) for Appointment Scheduling, a customer will not be able to schedule an appointment for this day. You can select to have scheduling disabled for  a Drop-off, Waiting, or both appointment types.
    2. If a holiday is toggle OFF (gray) for Campaign sending then the campaign will not send on that holiday. Instead they will send the next day. You can select to have campaigns disabled for Texting, Email, or both types. 
    3. If a holiday is toggle OFF (gray) for Appointment Reminder sending then a reminder that would have gone out that day will not send. They will not be rescheduled to send another day. You can select to have Appointment Reminder sending disabled for Texting, Email, or both. 
      1. If you prefer to have Appointment Reminders send on a specific day of the week (e.g. to have reminders for Monday appointments send on Friday instead of Sunday) please see our help article on how to set-up and customize Appointment Reminders.

Default configuration
By default scheduling Appointments, sending Appointment Reminders, and sending  Campaigns are disabled for standard holidays. The list also includes all weekends and by default, for weekends everything is enabled to send. 

Additionally, you can add your own Holidays to your calendar by selecting "Add Holiday" in the upper right corner.

Email Settings and Limits

Email is the first option under Communication in Settings.

  • The "From Name" is the name that displays in the customer's email inbox. 
  • The "From email address" is the email address used to send your campaigns and direct emails. You can edit this at any time. 
  • You can also edit the sending limits for:
    • the number of email campaigns a customer can receive in 1 day. For example, if set to 3 a customer could receive up to 3 email campaigns in one day (e.g. a visit follow-up, a slow day blast, and a monthly newsletter). 
    • the period in which a customer can receive the same email campaign (e.g. if set to 7 days, if the customer visits twice in one week they will receive a follow-up for the first visit but not for the second visit). 

Texting Settings and limits

Texting is the second option under Communication in Settings.

  • The Provider phone number (Twilio or Bandwith) must be set-up correctly for your text messages to be sent. Please contact help@steercrm.com if any adjustments are needed for your sending number. 
  • You can also edit the sending limits for:
    • the number of text campaigns a customer can receive in 1 day. For example, if set to 3 a customer could receive up to 3 text campaigns in one day (e.g. a visit follow-up, a slow day blast, and a monthly update). 
    • the period in which a customer can receive the same text campaign (e.g. if set to 7 days, if the customer visits twice in one week they will receive a follow-up for the first visit but not for the second visit).
