How to understand campaign attribution reporting

This article will review how to use Steer reporting to understand how your campaigns are performing.

What is Attribution Reporting?

Attribution Reporting offers valuable insights into the customer journey and how various campaign efforts contribute to sales for your shop. It helps you understand the different paths customers take to return to your shop and highlights the synergy between different campaigns in driving sales.

How to Access Attribution Reporting - There are two ways to access your attribution reporting:

  1. From the Campaign Page
    • Go to Active Campaigns
    • Identify the campaign you wish to see statistics on, and click the 3 dots the click View Reports
  2. From the Menu Bar
    • Go to Active Campaigns
    • Go to Reporting

If you have multiple locations, you can  also download campaign reporting for all locations by following the steps below:

  • From the Multi Location Dashboard to to Download Reports.

The Reporting Dashboard

This dashboard shows the statics for all the campaigns within a particular type of campaign.  For example:

  • Follow-Up Campaigns: the report on the dashboard shows the performance for all of the follow-up campaigns that your shop has sent within a particular time period including:
    • How many messages were sent in each channel
    • Sales that were generated by campaigns in each channel

Note: To adjust the time period simply click in the upper right corner and select the drop down “Stats For” and select from the menu items.

The timeframes to filter are based on the fixed set of pre-defined values; not a custom date picker. Attribution Reporting goes as far back as October 26th, 2023, or the date you joined Steer if after October 2023.

Individual Campaign Reporting

To view the individual campaign results, click "View Reporting" on the desired Campaign Type. At the top you will a more detailed summary of how many messages were sent and the sales generated for that Campaign type. Below you will see a full list of individual campaigns.

If you want to see the list of customers and invoices associated to the revenue for a campaign, click on the individual campaign.

Note:  If the customer had visits for multiple vehicles you may see multiple records for that customer.

How does Steer Determine Which Sales to Include in the Reporting for a Campaign?

    • The table of customers, includes a row for every delivered message. So if a customer received both Email and Text Message from one campaign, you will see the same customer on two rows.
    • The table of customers excludes messages that bounce or fail to deliver and may differ from the Total Sent count, at the top of the page, which includes all messages that attempted to send.
    • Any paid invoice that happens within 35 days after the campaign is received gets attributed to the most recent campaign received.
    • Date is updated overnight. It does not include real time data from today.
