How to Create and Edit Deferred Service Reminders

Deferred Service Campaigns allow shops to provide consistent and timely reminders of declined jobs; resulting in returning customers, increased car count, and increased average repair order value.

For the following Shop Management Systems (SMS), Steer pulls Deferred/Declined services from the SMS source:

DropTop

Identifix

Pace

Protractor 

Tekmetric

Shop-Ware

VAST Retail

If you use an SMS not listed above, Steer is able to generate Deferred Service Campaigns via Keywords based on your invoice data. You are able to edit and customize these keywords.

How to Create to Deferred Services Segment & Campaigns:

Follow the steps below to create a new Deferred Service Segment and Campaign. If you would like to add a campaign to an existing segment simply click + beside the segment of your choice and skip to Step 7 below. 

  1. Campaigns.
  2. Active > Deferred Services.
  3. Create a New Campaign Segment.

    4.  Name your Deferred Service Segment.

    5. Scroll and toggle on Days Until Appointment - 0-100 - EXCLUDE; this will keep your deferred service reminder from sending to customers who have a current standing appointment. 

    6. Save.

Now you will add your campaign to your Deferred Service Segment.

    7. Click +New Campaign and choose your marketing type: Text or Email.

    8. Create your own template or choose from the Steer Template Library - Deferred Service Reminder Template. 

   9. Name your Campaign. 

  10. Choose how many Days After Deferred Service was created you would like to remind the customer. Example: 20 days.

  11. Select your start date your campaign to repeat every 1 day with No End Date - ON, to ensure the campaign is consistently running. 

  12. Save. 

  

Deferred Service Campaign Settings

To create a corresponding marketing type, i.e. send email and text both, simply click the plus sign beside your previously created campaign name, select your template, and update the campaign settings the same you did when you created your first Deferred Services campaign.

How Steer Generates Deferred Services via Keyword for Campaigns:

Steer is able to scan your invoices and pull Deferred Services via Keywords for Shop Management Systems that do not send them to us as an object. It is important to ensure these keywords match the language you utilize on your invoices. Keep reading to learn how to edit and add Deferred Service Keywords. 

  1. Settings.
  2. Communication.
  3. Deferred Services. 

Here you will see the pre-existing Deferred Service Keywords in Steer.

To edit or delete an existing keyword, click the three dots beside the keyword you wish to edit. 

To add a new keyword, click +Add Keyword.

How to Check that Deferred Service Keywords are Pulling Customers Correctly:

You can view the queue for your Deferred Service Campaigns to ensure Steer is pulling the correct customers into the campaign. 

  1. Campaigns > Active. 
  2. Navigate to Deferred Services Campaign. 
  3. Click the three dots beside the marketing type. 
  4. Click Manage Customer List to see the customers pulled into the campaign.

You can view the vehicle profile of the customers on the list to confirm they have a Deferred Service and that the keywords pulled correctly.
