How to Create and manage dynamic tokens to personalize your campaign content at scale. With Custom Tokens you can insert custom text, URLs, or calculated values in your campaigns.

How to Create a Custom Token

In Steer, Navigate to:

1. Settings.

2. Click the location drop down in the Upper Right and click All Locations. 

3. Click on the Tokens page when on the Tenant Settings page. Custom Tokens Page

4. Click +New Token.

5. Fill out the required fields to build your custom token:

     a. Name: utilize a name that identifies this token & it's content (coupon expiration, employee name, etc.) 

     b. Token: this will auto generate based on the name you give. 

     c. Type: Token Value vs. Days After Sent

          i. Token Value: enter the Text, URL, discount amount, or any static value you would like to automatically insert in your campaign. This value will replace the token wherever it is used across your content.

         ii. Days After Sent: this date will be dynamically calculated from the moment the campaign is sent. Use this type for items such as campaign expiration dates. Date format appears as: Month, Date, Year.

6. Save your token. 


Managing Custom Tokens Across Multiple Locations

If you manage multiple shops under the same Steer Tenant, you are able to adjust the value of the custom tokens you create across your shops. 

While on the Token screen in tenant settings, click the Edit (pencil) icon beside the token of your choice. This will allow you to adjust the values of the token across your locations, customizing the value per location while utilizing the same token consistently across locations.

How to Utilize Custom Tokens in Campaigns

After creating your custom token, you can easily apply your token to your text and email campaigns. 

In Steer, Navigate to:

1. Platform. 

2. Campaigns > Active. 

3. Create a New Campaign in any section, or add your token to an existing campaign by editing the campaign. 

4. To add your token to a Text Campaign:

     a. Click the {} when in the text template builder, in the lower right corner.

     b. Click Custom Tokens

     c. Select the custom token you would like to use; the token will be inserted into your text message template. When the customer receives the text they will see the value you set for your token when creating the custom token.

5. To add your token to a Email Campaign:

     a. Click Tokens when in a text box while in the email template builder.

     b. Click Custom Tokens from the dropdown. 

     c. Select the custom token you would like to use; the token will be inserted into the email text box. When the customer receives the email they will see the value you set for your token when creating the custom token.
